As rapid advancements are emerging in the field of life sciences, the world needs graduate school education to develop talented opinion leaders, preparing them with high-level technical knowledge and the versatile skills needed in society.
This consortium brings together four universities in the Tokyo metropolitan area that possess complementary characteristics in education and research in the life sciences—Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Ochanomizu University, Gakushuin University, and Kitasato University. Together, with the cooperation of stakeholders that include academic associations and corporations, the goal is to systematize graduate school curriculum to cultivate talent in the life sciences.
The disease prevention science course has been set up in the doctoral program, and as the shared curriculum is developed, standards will rise for education and research. By providing student support (internships and extramural training) and through the shared implementation of international projects, promotion of a joint research system and collaboration with the local community, the consortium will become an intellectual locus for the life sciences in Tokyo.
